Salmon Chowder

Salmon Chowder

Going low sodium, I didn’t think I’d be able to enjoy chowder again. Clams, bacon, and dairy are all high in sodium, so all three combined usually means a bowl of chowder is off the charts. The canned version usually comes in around 800 milligrams per cup (and let’s face it, it’s not very often you only eat a cup). But by swapping out the clams for salmon and making a few other tweaks, this recipe is only a little over 800 milligrams for the whole hearty potful. If you aren’t a big fan of salmon, you can swap in another fish, such as halibut or cod.
